Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness, usually achieved with the help of a hypnotherapist using verbal repetition and mental images. When you’re under hypnosis, your attention is highly focused and you’re more responsive to suggestions, including behavior changes that can help you lose weight. After proper instruction, you can also try self-hypnosis for weight loss which most Hypnotists offer on CD. Weight-loss hypnosis is often combined with cognitive behavioral therapy. Sometimes there are external triggers for weight gain such as comfort eating due to weather or a mental or emotional issue.
Metabolism is the process by which your body converts what you eat and drink into energy. Even when you’re at rest, your body needs energy for functions such as breathing, circulating blood and repairing cells. The number of calories your body uses for these basic functions is known as your basal metabolic rate (BMR).
Several factors determine your basal metabolic rate:
Your body size and composition. If you’re larger or have more muscle mass, you will burn more calories, even at rest.
Your sex. If you’re a man, you probably have less body fat and more muscle mass than a woman of the same age, so you burn more calories.
Your age. As you get older, your muscle mass decreases, which slows down the rate at which you burn calories.
Rather than metabolism, factors more likely to contribute to weight gain include:
Eating too many calories
Getting too little exercise
Genetics and family history
Unhealthy habits, such as skipping breakfast or not getting enough sleep
Eating breakfast reduces your hunger later in the day, making it easier to avoid overeating. When you skip breakfast, you may feel ravenous later and be tempted to reach for a quick fix, such as candy from the vending machine. In addition, prolonged fasting — which occurs when you skip breakfast — can increase your body’s insulin response, which in turn increases fat storage and weight gain. In fact, skipping breakfast actually increases your risk of obesity.
Eating breakfast gets you on track to make healthy choices all day. People who eat breakfast regularly tend to eat a healthier diet — one that is more nutritious and lower in fat. When you skip breakfast, you’re more likely to skip fruits and vegetables the rest of the day too.
The bottom line on losing weight is that it takes will power and you can put this to work with some techniques for self hypnosis. Hypnosis is simply a connection and interaction of the mind and the body that assists you in the mission to lose weight.
Retraining our mind to act in a certain way is the scientific premise behind hypnosis and can be achieved with you and a hypnotist. Practicing self hypnosis puts you in the seat of therapist and eliminates the need for another person to assist you with weight loss. You are simply setting your mind up to accomplish a goal for you. Learn self hypnosis through weight loss CDs and a session with a hypnotist and the pounds will begin to fall off.
Do not think that self hypnosis is a magic trick that will get you losing weight after one round of hypnosis. You must exercise control over your hunger and you have to get your body moving, you will not just wake up the next morning newly svelte. You must believe in the process and yourself to achieve your desired success. A positive attitude can go a long way in achieving your weight loss goals, as well.
2. Self Hypnosis
Try four deep cleansing breaths and go through a body scan to relax each part of your body. Begin either with your head or with your feet and work your way up or down allowing each part to really drift away. You should determine ahead of time how long you want to spend on the hypnosis.
Then you can make suggestions – or auto suggest – for yourself. You should adopt a mantra, be it “I will eat fruit”, or “I will run,” or “I like broccoli better than anything else.” You should not make more than 10 suggestions. You should remain lying down and breathing deeply for a few minutes and then stop. During a Hypnosis session powerful reinforcement messages are made to the sub conscious brain making the affirmative statements easier to become reality.
Weight loss is hard work, but practicing self hypnosis can help you to achieve your goals. You can use self hypnosis to train your mind and body to make more healthy choices about food and exercise. This is a completely free way to approach your weight loss plan and can be incorporated much easier than surgery or medication.
3. Action Plan
Rule 1: Listen to your weight loss CD every day for thirty days.
Rule 2: Take a one hour hypnosis session with a hypnotist
Rule 3: Study and implement nutrition; diet and exercise in to your daily routine
Act upon the promptings and suggestions you and the hypnotist have given to yourself. Your sub conscious brain will tell your conscious it is the right thing to do so act upon it.
It takes 21 days to change a habit so do not give up even if you gain a bit of weight initially. Pick one ritual that you can easily do every day that will lead to your weight loss. One powerful, easy thing you can do is to change your morning ritual.
Prepare a healthy meal every night before you go to bed, and pick any 20-minute form of exercise you can do in the mornings. When you wake up, do 20 minutes of exercise even if it is just walking then eat your healthy meal. This is easy to do and because it is the first thing you do every day, the stresses of the day will not prevent it.
Seek help and support from your friends and loved ones, you can do it but rarely alone! Make it an enjoyable situation rather than a chore! Fitness clubs and weight watchers seldom work because it can be a bind to actually show up week after week but self hypnosis you can do in the comfort of your own home. The key to weight loss is all in the head, according to a Fox 13 Tampa Bay report.
On Friday, Fox 13 Tampa Bay covered a story of a 58-year-old Bushnell, Fla. woman who attributed her weight loss to hypnosis.
Molly Everett weighed more than 350 pounds in June, Fox 13 reported.
“I was walking with a cane and babying my knees,” Everett told Fox 13. “That’s why I said I need to get the weight off just so I could walk. I had looked up gastric bypass, and I was thinking I don’t want to go through this operation. Four people in my family had it. It worked for two, and it didn’t work for two.”
“We can talk ourselves into or out of anything. It allows us to refocus on a new way of thinking and reinforce that mindset.”
Fox13 reports Everett has committed to a hypnosis fitness boot camp and lost 65 pounds since encountering hypnosis and the step-by-step visual walkthrough.
“My hypnosis is about empowering people. That’s what I feel I am here to do,” Greenberg told Fox 13. “If we take the tools and use them, the results can be miraculous.”
Everett, according to Fox 13, has lost three clothes sizes.
